"Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt." --Special Olympic Oath
When tasked with creating the image of sport at its purest form, one wouldn¹t go into an abandoned steel warehouse filled with endless amounts of dirt and mud. ESPN did exactly that, transforming a dilapidated environment into a colorful display of inspirational imagery from Special Olympic athletes. We wanted the viewer to feel the purity and presence of these athletes at every angle the camera pointed. The warehouse was filled with iconic Special Olympic pictures and moments that truly made you smile. Bright colors were used throughout the warehouse to make the set come to life.
The Special Olympics oath is simple. "Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt." Pop stars R5 lend us their hit song "Smile" as we celebrate the athletes who have taken this oath.

Recording artist Andy Grammer lost his mother to cancer. He lent his time, a song, and his voice for the opening tease to V week. The result is an inspirational invitation to give— and it worked. Millions of dollars were raised for the V Foundation for Cancer Research, and until a cure is found, ESPN and the V Foundation will never give up.

This essay won the Dick Schapp Award at the 2011 Sports Emmys. It was my job as a producer to do this script justice visually. Every single shot had to spark an emotion to make sure the words carried their weight. Truth, an example of brilliant writing, award winning editing and emotional shot selection.

Baseball is more than just a game. At a young age it can teach you the fundamental principals of life. The Little League World Series ended with an essay told through an older mans eyes and explained why baseball is much more than a game.
What cancer is to me is not what it is to you. We asked various walks of life to define what cancer is___. The answers were breathtaking, inspiring and gut-wrenching, proving yet again we must find a cure for this awful disease.

The launch of the new ACC Network called for an opening piece that mirrored the scope of the network’s mission, and the full history of the conference. With “One Home”, ESPN accomplished that goal, as the viewer is taken around the country to visit the campuses, and back in time to relive the great moments of the ACC. The tease touches on the legendary athletes and coaches, the long winning legacies, and the deep rivalries. The pride and spirit of the ACC grows in the hearts of each school’s extended family. In the end, enduring values— on the playing field and in the classroom — are the connective tissue that makes the ACC Network, “One Home”.

The Chase for the Cup was heading west, where bull riding is second nature. With three races left in the season, many drivers are hanging on much like bull riders in a rodeo. Only one will hang on long enough to be crowned a NASCAR Cup Champion.
